The Historical Regatta is a major sporting event attached to a historical pageant, held in Venice on the Grand Canal on the first Sunday of September.

The Historical Regatta is the main event in the annual calendar of races Venetian rowing, unique discipline practiced for thousands of years in the lagoon of Venice. It is now made even more spectacular by the famous parade that precedes the race, a parade of dozens of boats typical sixteenth century, and multicolored with gondoliers in period costume carrying the Duke, Duchess and all the highest ranking Venetian officials. A true reconstruction of the glorious past of one of the most powerful and influential Maritime Republics in the Mediterranean.
